Catering for confirmations

A confirmation is usually the largest party a family hosts in years, and it is a day the host would rather spend with the guests than in the kitchen.

What people usually choose

The cold table is the most common choice. It sits well on the table all day, guests help themselves, and it suits both those who arrive at two and those who drop by later. Count one portion per person.

Canapés are the alternative for smaller or more informal gatherings. Four per person is a good starting point, and most order three or four different types.

Many add a cheese or charcuterie platter to go with the coffee.

When to order

Cold tables and platters must be ordered at least 48 hours in advance. The confirmation season in April, May and June fills up quickly, so order as early as you can.
